Zeppelin's Fuel Cell Unit Powers 'Sandstedter Sommer' Festival

Zeppelin Power Systems recently made a notable debut at the 'Sandstedter Sommer' festival, held from 29 to 31 August between Bremen and Bremerhaven. The company successfully used a fuel cell power unit to provide low-emission energy for the entire event.

The unit, which operated almost silently, was powered by green hydrogen sourced from Bremerhaven. This emission-free power source was a convincing choice for the organisers and exhibitors alike. The 50-kVA unit, a hybrid system combining a PEM fuel cell with lithium-ion battery technology and storing 30 kg of hydrogen, was tested at the festival for the first time. The successful real-world deployment marks the start of further events and mobile applications.

Hamburg's First Mayor, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, had inaugurated the unit in May. The fuel cell technology was combined with battery storage to ensure an uninterrupted energy supply throughout the three-day festival.

Zeppelin Power Systems' fuel cell power unit, tested at the 'Sandstedter Sommer' festival, proved to be a reliable and low-emission energy source. The successful deployment paves the way for more such events and mobile applications, demonstrating the potential of green hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
