YouTube Launches AI Tools to Bolster Short Video Creations
In a significant move to enhance the creative potential of its platform, YouTube has unveiled a suite of AI tools designed specifically for Shorts. The new features, which include Edit with AI and Veo 3 Fast, are set to revolutionise video creation on the platform.
Starting this week, Veo 3 Fast will be available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This update allows creators to generate videos more quickly and with sound for the first time, producing 480p video clips at lower latency. YouTube plans to expand the availability of Veo 3 Fast to more countries in the near future.
Edit with AI, another groundbreaking feature, simplifies video editing by creating a first draft from raw camera roll footage. It selects the best moments, adds transitions, includes music, and can generate a voice-over that responds to the video content. Currently, Edit with AI supports English and Hindi, but it will expand to additional markets in the coming weeks.
One of the standout features of Edit with AI is the Speech to Song remixing tool. This innovative feature transforms dialogue from eligible videos into soundtracks for YouTube Shorts, utilising Google's music model Lyria 2. Users can customise the music with moods such as "chill," "danceable," or "fun."
The Speech to Song remixing tool will launch first in the United States, with more regions following in the weeks ahead. Another exciting addition is motion transfer, which allows creators to animate a static picture using motion from another clip.
In the testing phase of these new features, YouTube's YouTube Create app has been instrumental. The rollout of Veo 3 Fast also marks the beginning of creators being able to apply different artistic styles, such as pop art and origami effects, to their Shorts.
YouTube is committed to adding new creative features to Shorts, aiming to provide a platform where creators can express their ideas in innovative and engaging ways. The company has hinted at more updates in the pipeline, with the intention of expanding Edit with AI to additional countries in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates from YouTube!
