WSOP Extends Contract Until 2017, Adds 55 Bracelet Events and New Rules
Caesars Entertainment has extended its contract for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) until 2017. This year's event will feature 55 bracelet events, all to be streamed online by ESPN. Despite the 'Black Friday' incidents, the WSOP remains unaffected.
The WSOP has implemented several changes for this year's event. Automatic card shufflers will be used at every final table and some event tables to ensure fairness. Media representatives are now allowed at the table for 5 minutes, followed by a mandatory 30-minute break to balance coverage and player comfort.
The Poker Hall of Fame has introduced the 'Chip Reese Rule'. From now on, candidates must be at least 40 years old to be considered for induction. This rule aims to recognize players who have made a significant impact on the game over an extended period.
