Volkswagen unveils new electric vehicle models and associated costs within the Australian market
Volkswagen has expanded its electric SUV lineup in Australia with the introduction of the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 Pro, along with the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX. These new variants offer unique features and varying price points, catering to different preferences.
Key Features (ID.4 Pro, ID.5 Pro, ID.4 GTX, ID.5 GTX)
- Safety and Security: Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Emergency Assist, Safe Exit Warning, oncoming vehicle braking when turning, swerve support, multiple airbags including front center and curtain airbags, proactive passenger protection system, driver attention monitor, Area View surround camera, front and rear parking sensors, anti-theft alarm.
- Exterior: IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, 3D LED rear lamps with dynamic turn signal, dark tinted rear and side privacy glass.
Differences in Design and Pricing
The ID.4 Pro and ID.5 Pro share many similarities but differ in design and pricing. The ID.4 Pro features roof rails, while the ID.5 Pro offers a coupe-like design with unique styling elements such as a black contrasting roof and sportier bumpers.
The ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX, on the other hand, come with updated front and rear bumpers, body-coloured sides, 20-inch wheels, and front foglights. The ID.5 GTX also boasts a battery capacity of 84kWh, compared to the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 Pro's 82kWh.
Pricing for the ID.4 Pro starts at AUD 59,990, while the ID.5 Pro is priced at AUD 62,990. The ID.4 GTX has a starting price of $69,990, and the ID.5 GTX has a starting price of $72,990.
Standard Inclusions
Both the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 Pro come with standard inclusions such as IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlamps, 3D LED rear lights, keyless access, power tailgate, panoramic roof, ArtVelours microfleece upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, tri-zone climate control air conditioning, 12.9-inch infotainment, Area View 360-degree camera, and parking distance sensors.
The ID.4 GTX and ID. 5 GTX come with additional features such as alloy wheels "Ystad" 20×8" front, 20×9" rear, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system. The ID.5 GTX also includes Adaptive Chassis Control, progressive steering, and 30 color interior ambient lighting.
Performance
All new variants feature a single electric motor with rear-wheel drive and deliver a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.7 seconds. The ID.4 Pro offers a WLTP range of 543 km, while the ID.5 Pro provides a driving range of 544 km. The ID.5 GTX has a driving range of 522 km.
Colour Options and Paint Prices
Customers can order the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 Pro with metallic paint for an additional $1,000, while the ID.4 GTX and ID. 5 GTX can be ordered with Premium Metallic paint for an additional $1,300.
Sales Performance
As of 2025, the ID.4 has sold 333 units in Australia, ranking it number 34 on the list of best selling EVs. The ID.5 has sold 126 units, placing it at 53rd on the rankings.
