Volkswagen has announced the release of a special edition electric hatchback, the ID.3 GTX Fire + Ice. This limited-edition model, inspired by the Mk2 Golf Fire + Ice, is a nod to Volkswagen's rich history and a celebration of electric performance.
The ID.3 GTX Fire + Ice is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor, available with either 286 PS or 326 PS (approximately 321-326 bhp), producing 545 Nm of torque. This powerful vehicle accelerates from 0 to 62mph in approximately 5.7 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 124 mph (200 km/h). The car is powered by a 79 kWh lithium-ion battery, supporting up to 185 kW DC fast charging, allowing for 10-80% charge in about 26 minutes, and offering a WLTP combined range of around 367 miles (591 km).
The Fire + Ice edition honours the 1990 Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice, created in collaboration with fashion brand Bogner Fire+Ice. Special styling touches include Ultra Violet Metallic paint, reminiscent of the original, red roof frame strips, Fire+Ice logos on C-pillars and roof spoiler, 20-inch Locarno wheels with red GTX center caps, and tinted rear lamps. The interior features quilted seats inspired by Bogner jackets, coloured stitching, and logo embroidery. Fire and ice projected graphics are found on the driver and passenger door sills.
The ID.3 GTX Fire + Ice will be available to order from Thursday 7 August 2025. The production run is limited to 1,990 units worldwide, making it a rare find for enthusiasts. Pricing starts at around £48,260 in the UK.
