Volkswagen Names Danny Auerswald as New Managing Director of Volkswagen Sachsen
Volkswagen has appointed Danny Auerswald as the new managing director of Volkswagen Sachsen, succeeding Robert Janssen. Dr. Christian Vollmer, the board chairman, praised Auerswald's extensive experience in the automotive industry, making him the ideal candidate for the role.
Auerswald brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He began his career at Volkswagen in 2013, working in production and logistics. From 2016 to 2020, he managed the assembly plant in Pekan, Malaysia, overseeing the production of various models including Passat, Tiguan, Polo, Vento, and Jetta.
After returning to Germany, Auerswald served as site manager of the Transparent Factory in Dresden, where he oversaw the start of ID.3 production. Most recently, he led production of Audi and VW models at the Volkswagen Group's plant in Bratislava.
Vollmer also acknowledged Robert Janssen's significant contributions to Volkswagen Sachsen. Janssen, a China expert, joined Volkswagen in 2000 and held various roles in Germany and overseas. He served as chairman and head of the technology and logistics department at Volkswagen Sachsen since 2022 before his departure.
Auerswald's appointment signals Volkswagen's confidence in his ability to lead the Saxony plants effectively. His experience in production, logistics, and management, both in Germany and internationally, makes him well-suited for the role. Meanwhile, Janssen's contributions to Volkswagen Sachsen have been recognized, and his expertise in China will be missed.
