VDI-GME Appoints Daniel Schröder as New Managing Director

The VDI Society for Materials Engineering (VDI-GME) has appointed Daniel Schröder as its new managing director, effective September 1, 2025. Schröder brings a wealth of experience in materials and processing technology, as well as a strong background in networking science, industry, and politics.

Schröder succeeds Dr. Hans-Jürgen Schäfer in this role. Prior to his appointment, Schröder had been with the VDI group since 2012, where he notably managed the VDI conference 'PIAE - Plastics in Automotive Engineering', attracting over 1,300 participants.

His expertise spans plastics technology, material development, and vehicle technology. Schröder has been active in VDI e.V. since July 2024, initially overseeing the plastics technology area within VDI-GME.

Daniel Schröder's appointment is set to strengthen VDI-GME's position as a key platform for discussing current and future challenges in materials engineering. With his extensive experience and industry knowledge, Schröder aims to further expand the society's influence and impact.
