Upcoming Release by Richard Mille: Instead of a Watch, a 130 horsepower Superbike of Luxury
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Swiss luxury watchmaker Richard Mille and iconic British motorcycle manufacturer Brough Superior have joined forces to create the RMB01 superbike. This unique, limited-edition motorcycle marries cutting-edge motorcycle engineering with the advanced craftsmanship and design philosophy of Richard Mille, resulting in a high-performance racing bike that is also a work of art.
The RMB01 superbike draws inspiration from the Board Trackers, early 20th-century racing motorcycles that competed on wooden racetracks. Emphasising lightness and performance, the RMB01 boasts a bold, sculptural, and sensual design, featuring muscular elliptical lines, an elongated tank, a minimalist seat, and a fully visible engine, creating a dynamic feline silhouette.
The focus on lightness is further emphasised by multiple visible openings and aerodynamic elements that generate downforce and enhance stability at speed. The project reflects the shared values of innovation, aesthetics, and mechanical perfection deeply held by both Richard Mille and Brough Superior.
Under the hood, the RMB01 boasts a two-cylinder 88° V-twin, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 997 cc motor producing 130 horsepower. The engine, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox with chain drive, provides ample power for the track. The frame is constructed from machined aluminum blocks for the chassis, contrasting with traditional Brough Superior frames that often use titanium. A self-supporting forged carbon rear frame adds to the bike's lightweight and robust construction.
To save weight, the engine components have been extensively reduced from an original 352 lbs to just 50 lbs of parts. The bike's dimensions are compact, with a length of 2,114 mm (83.23 in), a width of 725 mm (28.54 in), a minimum height of 808 mm (31.81 in), and a wheelbase of 1,493 mm (58.78 in). The front suspension features an aluminum front axle with 85 mm travel, 22.9° rake, preload and rebound adjustable suspension, twin 320 mm discs with 4-piston calipers. The rear monoshock offers 113 mm travel, preload and rebound adjustable, and a single 230 mm disc brake with a single-piston caliper.
The RMB01 superbike's tires, 120/70-17 tubeless for the front and 200/55-17 tubeless for the rear, are equipped with aerodynamic elements that aid stability during fast laps.
The RMB01 will be produced in a limited run of just 150 pieces, emphasising exclusivity. It was unveiled at the prestigious Le Mans Classic event in July 2025, underlining its connection to racing heritage and performance culture. The bike is available in three finishes: Nocturnal Sapphire, Selene, and Pearl of Speed.
Richard Mille's watches routinely command six-figure prices and are worn by athletes like Rafael Nadal and F1 drivers. The RMB01 superbike offers a unique proposition: the mechanical soul of a Richard Mille watch scaled up to something you can actually ride. The bike features a frosted anthracite grey aerodynamic kit complemented by light grey detailing, with blue accents highlighting the cylinder head covers, clutch master cylinder, alternator cover, and shock absorber springs.
The collaboration between Richard Mille and Brough Superior makes sense due to their shared focus on mechanical art, technical excellence, and catering to clients who view these as ultimate luxuries. The RMB01 superbike's chassis is made of CNC aluminum connected to a self-supporting forged carbon exoskeleton. The wheels have divided rims that mirror the layered gear trains in a luxury watch movement.
The RMB01 superbike is not Richard Mille's first venture beyond watchmaking; they have previously dabbled in racing partnerships and automotive-inspired timepieces. Each RMB01 represents roughly 18 months of collaborative development between Richard Mille and Brough Superior. The engine's weight-obsessed approach yields 130 horsepower, focusing on usable power and mechanical transparency rather than headline-grabbing numbers.
Brough Superior's signature Fior-type fork with double wishbone is used in the suspension setup for exceptional stability through corners. The engine casings of the RMB01 are machined from solid blocks of 5000-series aluminum alloy with high magnesium content, exposing the mechanical ballet within.
With a price tag expected to exceed $200,000 per unit, the RMB01 superbike is a testament to the power of collaboration between two iconic brands, pushing the boundaries of design, engineering, and performance in the world of motorcycles.
The RMB01 superbike, embodying the spirit of both Richard Mille's watchmaking and Brough Superior's motorcycle engineering, is set to captivate the world of sports-betting enthusiasts, with its exclusive and limited production run of 150 pieces. The protective aerodynamic kit adorning the bike, reminiscent of a frosted anthracite grey luxury watch, mirrors the dividing rims on its wheels, highlighting the connection between the two brands' shared focus on mechanical art and technical excellence.
