Introducing the Extron SMP 401: A Powerful All-in-One 4K/60 Media Processor

The Extron SMP 401 is a compact, high-performance device designed for complex AV environments. This all-in-one media processor offers multi-channel 4K/60 recording and streaming capabilities, making it an ideal solution for demanding multi-source capture, streaming, and recording workflows.

The SMP 401 supports up to five simultaneous recordings and six simultaneous streams, providing flexibility for various display options. It can handle dual-window streaming layouts, ensuring smooth playback of multiple video sources simultaneously.

One of the standout features of the SMP 401 is its integration with video management platforms like YuJa. This integration enables easy scheduling, publishing, and automated workflows, supporting both ad-hoc and scheduled recordings as well as secure, reliable live streaming using RTMP protocol. After recording, content can be automatically uploaded to video platform media libraries, facilitating streamlined management and delivery of video content.

The SMP 401 also boasts advanced audio DSP for independent mixing per channel and supports line or mic level audio with phantom power for microphones. It provides a stereo line level input and two mic/line level inputs, offering versatility for various audio sources.

In terms of connectivity, the SMP 401 captures sources from three HDMI inputs, two RTP/RTSP virtual inputs, and an optional 12G-SDI input. It can distribute these sources through the network via the SMP 401, thanks to its ability to capture, switch, scale, and distribute AV sources and presentations.

For audio interfacing, the AXI 22 AT D Plus is a single-gang decorator-style Dante audio interface that interfaces with any Dante-equipped audio processor. It allows a single network cable connection for bidirectional audio, control, and power, and features two XLR audio inputs with switchable 48 volt phantom power for connecting and powering condenser microphones.

Two new 8K HDMI distribution amplifiers, the DA4 HD 8K L and the DA6 HD 8K L, have been introduced to complement the SMP 401. These amplifiers support resolutions up to 8K/30 at 4:4:4, including 5K applications such as Microsoft Teams 21:9 in Front Row installations. Each distribution amplifier supports data rates up to 40.1 Gbps, HDR, Deep Color up to 12 bits, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats.

The DA4 HD 8K L and the DA6 HD 8K L also feature EDID Minder Plus for managing HDMI EDID communication, providing support of additional memory blocks while ensuring simultaneous distribution of HDCP-encrypted content. They can be proactively monitored, managed, or controlled over a LAN or WAN using standard TCP/IP protocols.

In conclusion, the Extron SMP 401 Multi-Channel 4K Recording and Streaming Media Processor, along with the DA4 HD 8K L and the DA6 HD 8K L distribution amplifiers, offers a powerful solution for high-resolution multi-source capture, streaming, and recording workflows. Its robust scheduling and publishing integration, combined with its versatile connectivity options, make it an ideal choice for complex AV environments.

The Extron SMP 401 can handle multiple events such as recordings and streamings, supporting up to five simultaneous recordings and six simultaneous streams. Its integration with video management platforms like YuJa features automated workflows, ideal for various gadgets like smartphones or cameras.

As for the events, the newly introduced DA4 HD 8K L and DA6 HD 8K L distribution amplifiers offer advanced technology to handle high-resolution content, up to 8K/30 at 4:4:4, making them perfect for technology-driven installations like Front Row setups or tech events like product launches.

The Extron SMP 401 also showcases features such as advanced audio DSP and AXI 22 AT D Plus, enhancing the performance of various sound-related products like microphones or speakers during events. These features ensure the best possible sound quality in complex AV environments.
