Ukraine Destroys First Russian Ground Robot in Combat
Ukrainian forces have reported the destruction of a Russian ground-based robotic complex, marking the first such incident. The unit responsible for the initial attack, which occurred about a week ago near the Pokrovsk agglomeration, has been identified as the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Regiment.
The robotic complex, an NRTK 'Kurier', was equipped with an automatic grenade launcher AGS-17 and was controlled remotely via a radio channel within a range of 3 to 10 km. The 'Kurier' was moving on a tracked platform powered by electric motors and was fitted with a course and panoramic observation camera. The strike was carried out by unmanned systems of the 32nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The use of such ground-based robotic complexes by the Russian military signals a shift in their tactics, potentially indicating a greater reliance on unmanned systems in combat situations.
The destruction of the 'Kurier' demonstrates the Ukrainian military's capability to counter and neutralize Russian robots. As the conflict continues, both sides are expected to adapt and evolve their strategies, with unmanned systems likely playing an increasingly significant role.
