Twitter account 'X' unveils its revamped P7 model, boasting three in-house fabricated chips, in a bid to resurrect its renowned device.
XPeng, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its next-generation P7 electric sedan, marking another significant step in the company's rapid growth. Pre-sales for the new model have commenced, with the official pricing to be announced later this month.
The new P7 boasts an impressive array of features, including an 800-volt high-voltage platform and battery packs supporting a 5C charging rate. This innovative technology enables a range of 525 kilometers in just 10 minutes of charging. The vehicle also comes standard with three Turing AI driving chips, developed in-house by XPeng, and a range of up to 820 km.
The new P7 is available in three range options: 702 km, 750 km, and 820 km. It also offers both single-motor and dual-motor options, with the more powerful dual-motor version capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.
The new-generation P7 measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. It showcases a futuristic design and is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension system that provides the low ground clearance of a luxury sports car.
In addition to its advanced technology and performance upgrades, the new P7 also integrates some of the technology used in XPeng's humanoid robot, Iron. For the first time, the company has used a movable center console screen, similar to that found in Iron.
Customers who reserve the new P7 by paying RMB 99 (about $14) will receive a RMB 3,000 (approximately $418) discount when paying for the vehicle. XPeng has emphasised that the vehicle, with its advanced technology and performance upgrades, will not be a "cheap" product and is aimed at a mid-to-large sedan market segment.
XPeng has had a successful year so far, with the delivery volume of its vehicles reaching 197,189 in the first half of the year, up 279.01 percent year-on-year. The company's Twitter profile, @peng, delivered a record 36,717 vehicles in July, marking the ninth consecutive month of monthly deliveries exceeding 30,000 units since November 2024.
In addition to the new P7, XPeng has also updated its G6 SUV, G9 SUV, and 9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) this year and launched a new SUV, the G7. The company is also working on a hybrid version of the G6 SUV.
While the official pricing for the new P7 has not yet been disclosed, prior indications suggest the new model will target a price around RMB 300,000 (approximately $41,820) in China. However, this was a price target rather than a confirmed official price at launch.
Show cars for the new P7 are available in XPeng showrooms starting today. The official launch, and the announcement of the final pricing, is expected later this month.
