Trump proposes a change in AI's name, offering a proposal that seems incongruous

In a surprising move during an AI summit on Wednesday, President Donald Trump proposed renaming "Artificial Intelligence" to "Genius Intelligence." Trump expressed his dislike for the term "artificial," stating that he finds it too artificial and doesn't like it. He believes AI is more than just artificial; it's pure genius.

Trump's proposal for a new name was met with laughter in the audience, but he remained firm in his stance. He suggested calling it "Genius Intelligence" instead of Artificial Intelligence. However, he did not specify an official new name beyond expressing his preference for "Genius Intelligence."

This proposal comes amid the Trump administration's broader AI Action Plan, which aims to ensure U.S. leadership in the global AI industry. The policy focuses on removing bureaucratic red tape, eliminating the administration's definition of political "bias" in AI, and exporting U.S. AI technology.

The AI summit was not the only place where concerns about AI were raised. A statement from the People's AI Action Plan, signed by 95 labor unions, privacy advocates, and other organizations, expresses concerns about the lack of safeguards for AI and its potential impact on freedom, equality, workers, and the environment.

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has also expressed concerns about AI, specifically AI existential dread. Meanwhile, David Sacks, the White House AI and crypto czar, stated that the U.S. is in an AI race and wants to win.

As the debate over the name of AI continues, one thing is clear: AI is considered a revolutionary technology with profound effects on both the economy and national security.

  1. In the AI race, the United States, as pointed out by White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks, aims to win with its revolutionary technology, now potentially referred to by President Trump as "Genius Intelligence."
  2. Beyond the debate over the name of AI, many stakeholders, such as labor unions and privacy advocates, voice concerns about the potential impacts of this technology on freedom, equality, workers, and the environment.
