Transaction volume and user count surge on Sahel app, reaching 111 million transactions and 2.9 million users
The unified government e-services app, Sahel, has been making waves in the digital landscape of the country since its launch in September 2021. According to Yousef Kazim, the spokesperson for Sahel, the app has completed an impressive 111 million electronic transactions with 2.9 million users.
Sahel's success can be attributed to the backing of the political leadership, with Minister Omar Al-Omar playing a crucial role. The app's upgraded version will introduce Balag, a central reporting service, further enhancing its functionality.
The Newborn Journey, the country's first integrated digital government journey, has also been launched. This innovative service streamlines multiple government procedures into simple, fast electronic steps, setting a precedent for future digital services. The digital journey model used in the Newborn Journey is expected to be adopted by more services in the future.
Sahel started with 123 government services and has now expanded to offer over 460 services through various ministries and entities. The app serves as a key tool for expediting transactions and easing the burden on citizens, residents, and government service centres.
The expansion of Sahel has made it the most widely used government application in the country. This year alone, Al Jarida newspaper reports that Sahel has carried out over 32 million transactions. Yousef Kazim attributes this high number of transactions to the public's confidence in the platform and the government's commitment to improving service efficiency.
Kazem expressed appreciation for the political leadership's support and the close follow-up by Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar. Upcoming features for Sahel include the issuance of house and marriage certificates, further solidifying its role as a comprehensive digital platform.
The upgraded Sahel is expected to include services beyond those currently offered. The digital transformation is part of a comprehensive, upgraded development aimed at enhancing user experience and advancing service integration. The introduction of these new features is expected to make Sahel an even more indispensable tool in the daily lives of citizens and residents alike.
