Themis Acquires Pasabi to Boost AI-Powered Financial Crime Prevention
Themis, a Certified B-Corp specialising in financial crime prevention, has acquired Edinburgh-based Pasabi, a pioneering AI fraud monitoring company. The acquisition, supported by global venture capital firm Quadri Ventures, brings together two innovative platforms and bolsters Themis' mission to combat financial crime worldwide.
Founded in 2017, Pasabi operates teams across the UK and Europe, led by founder Recep Canbolat. The company's advanced AI technology and fraud prevention expertise will now be integrated into Themis' Fraud Prevention Platform. This expansion includes enhanced capabilities in fraud detection, social media monitoring, and transaction analysis.
Themis, under the leadership of CEO Dickon Johnstone, has recently launched several innovative products, such as a KYC Customer Risk Calculator and Themis AI Investigator. The acquisition of Pasabi is set to 'turbocharge' Themis' mission, as stated by Johnstone. Pasabi's CEO and co-founder, Chris Downie, expressed excitement about the acquisition, citing the cultural fit and complementary nature of the platforms.
Themis will now offer enhanced machine learning and behavioural analytics capabilities in its fight against financial crime, thanks to the acquisition of Pasabi. The combined strengths of both companies are expected to significantly impact the global financial crime landscape.
