Tesla's First 500kW V4 Supercharger Station Now Open, Welcoming Non-Tesla EVs Late 2025

Tesla has launched its first 500kW V4 Supercharger station in Redwood City, California, initially serving Tesla cars. Starting Q4 2025, this station will also accommodate non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) like the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Lucid Gravity, utilising 800-volt systems.

The Redwood City station boasts eight V4 Supercharger stalls, each capable of delivering up to 500kW of power. This is a significant upgrade from the previous V3 cabinets, as the new V4 cabinets triple the power density and double the number of stalls per cabinet. The V4 cabinets can support up to 500kW for passenger cars and up to 1.2MW for Tesla's Semi trucks.

Currently, the station is exclusively for Tesla cars. However, starting in late 2025, it will open its doors to non-Tesla EVs, allowing them to charge alongside Tesla models like the Cybertruck. Charging rates will be US$0.32/kWh during off-peak hours and US$0.48/kWh during peak hours.

The Redwood City V4 Supercharger station marks a significant advancement in charging infrastructure. While initially Tesla-exclusive, its expansion to support non-Tesla EVs in late 2025 will further boost the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicle charging.
