Tesla raises costs on Combo Charging System (CCS) adapters and retrofits in both Canada and the United States.
Tesla Increases Price of CCS Combo 1 Adapter for Model S, X, 3, and Y
Tesla owners in North America will now have to pay more for the CCS Combo 1 Adapter, a device that allows Tesla vehicles to access third-party DC fast chargers using the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard.
The price increase affects both Canadian and U.S. customers. The price of the CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model S/X Retrofit with Adapter in Canada has increased from $415 to $545, while in the United States, it has risen from $300 to $380. The price of the CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model 3/Y Retrofit with Adapter in Canada has gone up from $310 to $475, and in the United States, it has increased from $225 to $330. The price of the standalone CCS Combo 1 Adapter in the United States has risen from $250 to $300, and in Canada, it has increased from $350 to $430.
The price hike is due to rising raw material costs, supply chain disruptions, increased demand, and enhanced technology features. Tesla first started offering the CCS retrofit for the Model 3/Y in March 2024 at a price of C$475/US$350.
It is important to note that Tesla vehicles in North America are built with a North American Charging Standard (NACS), or J3400, charge port, necessitating the use of a CCS adapter to charge at a CCS charger.
