Tesla makes its debut in Delhi, opening its first experience center and charging station
In a significant move towards expanding its presence in India, Tesla has launched a new charging hub in Delhi, marking the company's second such facility in the country. Located on the lower ground floor of Worldmark 3, this charging hub offers a convenient charging solution for Tesla owners.
The hub is equipped with four DC Superchargers and three AC Destination chargers, providing flexibility for rapid top-ups or longer parking stays. Under ideal conditions, the V4 units at the hub can add around 267 km of driving range to a Tesla Model Y in just 15 minutes.
This latest development is part of Tesla's global commitment to maintaining a high-performing charging network. In 2024, Tesla reported an uptime of 99.95 per cent for its more than 70,000 superchargers worldwide.
Tesla's Indian foray is not limited to charging infrastructure. The company has also launched a new Experience Centre in Delhi, offering test drives for the Model Y, which topped worldwide EV sales lists in 2023 and 2024.
Two variants of the Model Y will be available in India: a rear-wheel drive version with a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds, a WLTP-certified range of 500 km, and a top speed of 201 km/h, priced at ₹59.89 lakh; and a long-range rear-wheel drive variant with a range of 622 km, a top speed of 201 km/h, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds, and a starting price of ₹67.89 lakh.
In addition to its charging and sales initiatives, Tesla is also planning to introduce authorised Collision Centres, Service Centres, and a mobile service fleet capable of performing most repairs at customers' homes or offices. This move is aimed at providing comprehensive support to Tesla owners in India.
The Indian EV space is seeing good progress with the entry of global players, as noted by Mahindra. Tesla's foray into India is a testament to this trend, offering owners the opportunity to start each day with a full battery and avoid regular trips to charging or fuel stations.
Tesla emphasises that its vehicles require less maintenance due to fewer moving parts, over-the-air software updates, and advanced remote diagnostics. The company is also offering a complimentary wall connector with every purchase for new customers this quarter, allowing owners to conveniently charge their vehicles at home or work.
As of August 2025, Tesla's charging infrastructure in India includes two operational Supercharger locations: the first in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and the second at the Tesla Experience Center in Aerocity, Delhi. The company is actively expanding its network with three more Supercharger stations planned in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) — specifically in Saket, Gurugram, and Noida — and intends to add locations in Mumbai (Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, and Thane) and Bengaluru soon.
