Campbell Media Enhances Services with Closed Captioning and Advanced Technology

Campbell Media, a service of the Campbell County Cable Board, is set to enhance its workflow this fall with the addition of Cablecast Closed Captioning. This move is in response to new ADA WCAG 2.1, Level AA rules.

At the heart of Campbell Media's operations is the Cablecast REFLECT system, which caches popular Video On Demand (VOD) content in the cloud. The organization employs Ethernet ports at government buildings to feed video into the Cablecast ecosystem.

For live HD streams, Campbell Media uses Cablecast LIVE hardware, while the education channels are a combination of a Cablecast VIO Lite and an older Flex Series server. The HDMI feed from the camera is fed into one of Campbell Media's three Teradek VidiU streaming appliances for live meeting coverage.

The organization provides meeting coverage for 11 different cities and the county's fiscal court, covering approximately 19 different regularly scheduled meetings every month in about 15 locations. Campbell Media's channels include CGOV, CCMC, CCTV, CCRN, and two local education channels.

The workflow at Campbell Media is managed with automation hardware and distribution service solutions from Cablecast Community Media. In addition to traditional broadcasting, Campbell Media also livestreams an RTMP feed and simulcasts onto their website for live streaming. The organization also supports broadcasting to social media platforms like Facebook if requested by some meetings.

While specific details about the live meeting coverage workflow and video on demand content delivery are not publicly available, Campbell County official news and meeting information suggest the use of Zoom for live stream coverage of public meetings. The archiving of these Zoom recordings for later access could potentially fulfil the video on demand content delivery.

Campbell Media's app is available for Apple TV and Roku platforms, making its content accessible to a wider audience. However, for in-depth technical details or a confirmed workflow from Campbell Media, it is recommended to consult Campbell Media or Campbell County’s official communications channels directly.

  1. The advanced technology, such as the Cablecast Closed Captioning and the Cablecast REFLECT system, are features Campbell Media is employing to enhance its workflow in data-and-cloud-computing.
  2. The organization also streams live events, like meetings across 11 cities and the county's fiscal court, to various platforms, merging technology with the distribution of data.
