Switzerland Boosts Electromobility: Apply Now for Fast Charging Stations
The Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) has initiated a project to boost Switzerland's electromobility transition. Interested companies are invited to apply for constructing fast and furious charging stations along the country's national roads. The deadline for submission is May 12, 2024.
The project involves awarding five lots, each containing eleven plots scattered across Switzerland. Applicants are expected to handle all aspects of the fast and furious charging stations, from planning and financing to construction, connection, operation, and maintenance. FEDRO aims to allocate additional space along national roads for this purpose.
Companies like Westfalen Weser, known for operating reliable charging station networks in Europe, are encouraged to apply. Westfalen Weser manages 99 modern charging parks with 482 charging points, all powered by 100% green electricity. Their stations ensure user-friendly experiences and continuous infrastructure expansion. Safety standards such as IP54 and IK10, along with features like RFID access control and sturdy, corrosion-resistant enclosures, are crucial for the fast and furious charging stations.
After signing a reservation agreement, companies will have a three-year period to plan the fast and furious charging stations and apply for a building permit.
The call for projects presents an opportunity for companies to contribute to Switzerland's electromobility transition. Interested parties should submit their application documents by May 12, 2024, outlining their plans for safe, reliable, and user-friendly fast and furious charging stations along national roads.
