Revolutionary Sports Event: The Enhanced Games

"Steroid Games" sets release date, offers $1 million reward for record sales

The controversial concept of the Enhanced Games, an event where the use of performance-enhancing substances (PES) is not only tolerated but encouraged, has sparked debate within the sports community. Travis Tygart, head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), questioned the integrity of the games from the outset, expressing concerns over potential health risks and the undermining of fair competition. Other prominent sports organizations, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), have shared similar sentiments.

The momentum behind Enhanced Games started gaining force with high-profile investors such as Apeiron Investment Group, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, and former Coinbase technical director Balaji Srinivasan joining the project. In February, the project received additional support from Donald Trump Jr. and his investment fund, 1789 Capital. With this backing, the "steroid games" now seem imminent.

On May 21, founder and president Aaron D'Souza announced at a presentation on X that the first Enhanced Games will take place in Las Vegas on May 21, 2026, marking the beginnings of a new era for sports. Over four days, athletes will compete in three sports - swimming, athletics, and weightlifting - with each discipline or distance featuring multiple events. A 50m pool, an athletics track, and a weightlifting platform will be constructed at the Resorts World Las Vegas hotel for the occasion.

The prize money for each individual event amounts to $500,000, with champions receiving $250,000. Appearance fees and record-breaking bonuses, including a million-dollar reward for new world records in the 100m sprint and 50m freestyle swimming, are also available. Greek swimmer Christian Golomeev was the first recipient of the $1 million prize, having set a record on the 50m freestyle.

The controversy surrounding the games intensified with details on how athletes are preparing for the competitions. Three-time world champion and Olympic medalist James Magnussen, who initially retired from swimming, pledged to use various performance-enhancing substances, including peptides, testosterone, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, and thymosin. The 34-year-old admitted to injecting these substances in preparation for the games and emphasized that they enhance his body's natural growth hormone production, providing superhuman strength and recovery capabilities. Despite Magnussen's efforts, he failed to break the record, with Greek athlete Christian Golomeev becoming the main star of the event.

The Enhanced Games follow a Performance Enhancement Protocol, which ensures that athletes use performance-enhancing substances (PES) in a safe, legal, and scientifically-guided manner under medical supervision. This protocol is part of an IRB-approved clinical framework designed to merge scientific advancements with elite athletic performance. The event's ultimate goal is to push human potential to new boundaries by redefining the limits of what is physically achievable, breaking records even for athletes in their 40s and beyond.
