Spotify Names Co-CEOs: Söderström & Norström Take Helm as Ek Becomes Chairman

Spotify has announced a significant leadership change. From January 2026, the company will have two new co-Chief Executive Officers: Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström. Founder Daniel Ek will transition to the role of Executive Chairman.

Currently serving as Chief Product and Technology Officer, Söderström will join forces with Alex Norström, the current Chief Business Officer, to lead Spotify together. This move formalises the operational structure that Ek has been focusing on since 2023, allowing him to concentrate on long-term strategies and capital allocation in his new role as Executive Chairman.

Both executives will also join Spotify's Board of Directors, subject to shareholder approval. This change reflects the company's commitment to strong leadership and continuity as it looks towards the future.

In January 2026, Spotify will welcome co-CEOs Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström, with Daniel Ek transitioning to Executive Chairman. This transition aims to strengthen the company's leadership and ensure a smooth continuation of its mission.
