Split Fiction's Cinematic Adaptation, Game-to-Movie Transition by Hazelight Possible

In a mere month since its release, the latest video game masterpiece from Hazelight Studios - Split Fiction - is reportedly stepping up to the silver screen. According to Variety, multiple A-list studios are engaged in an intense bidding war for the game's movie rights, with Story Kitchen, the creative powerhouse behind successful adaptations such as Tomb Raider and Sonic movies, spearheading the project 13. However, neither Story Kitchen nor Hazelight Studios, particularly its flamboyant founder/creative director Josef Fares, have officially commented on the matter.

Despite the secrecy surrounding the interested studios, the prospects of a Split Fiction film adaptation seem promising. With Hollywood scooping up any game it can for the big (or small) screen, and Split Fiction's impressive sales, the stage is set for a cinematic interpretation. The game, exclusively playable in cooperative mode, follows the adventures of two aspiring writers, Mio and Zoe, who are trapped inside each other's stories by an idea-stealing machine during a meeting with a literary agent. This fantastical premise promises a thrilling cinematic experience, should it indeed make it to the big screen.

Since its launch, Split Fiction has been a success, garnering strong reviews and selling over 2 million copies within a week 13. This marks another step in publisher Electronic Arts' (EA) efforts to bring its games to the screen, as a Mass Effect show is set to premiere on Prime Video, and an adaptation of Hazelight's 2021 hit co-op game It Takes Two is on the horizon.
