Spitfire Wreckage Reborn as 'The Few' Watch Collection
The Great British Watch Company has created a unique collection of watches, 'The Few', made from the wreckage of a historic Spitfire. The first watches will be ready soon, with most already sold.
The watches are made from parts of a Mk 9 Spitfire ML295, shot down in 1944. The plane's remains were used for target practice by the Germans. Each watch, costing £19,950, is an edition of 60. The dials and hands are made from Spitfire parts, with a portion of sales going towards the plane's upkeep. The back of each watch is engraved with the names of the 12 pilots who flew the Spitfire, including Harold Kramer. This is the first time a Spitfire has been reincarnated in wristwatch form. The watches are made by The Great British Watch Company, not Colin Andrews, as previously suggested. The company has clarified that Andrews is not involved in the production of 'The Few'. The watches are expected to be ready in the next couple of months, with 58 of 60 already sold.
The Great British Watch Company's 'The Few' collection is a remarkable tribute to the Spitfire and its pilots. The watches, made from the plane's wreckage, are a unique way to honor the aircraft and its history. With most already sold, they are proving popular among enthusiasts. The company has confirmed that Colin Andrews is not involved in the production of these watches.
