Southern Methodist University's Emergency Operations Center Gets a LED Makeover - Unveiling the Power Source of the Revamped Facility
Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas has upgraded its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with a suite of high-definition LED displays, overseen by tvONE's CALICO PRO video processor.
The EOC serves as the central nerve center for security across the entire university, incorporating fire, police, security, ambulance, and camera systems. Three LED screens, including a 1.25mm 1620x5760 model, a 1.9mm Studio-1024 x 3584, and a 108-inch AIO-1080x1920, were installed by Uber Displays, in collaboration with AV technology partner Digital Resources.
According to Andrew Rice from Uber Displays, the project called for a robust and reliable video processing solution, limiting options to a select few. tvONE's CALICO PRO, with its proven capabilities and a demonstration organized by Mitch Rosenberg at tvONE, was deemed the ideal choice. Rice further praised the on-site training provided by Scott Kehoe from tvONE, calling him a "rockstar."
One of the project's most significant accomplishments is the ability to display camera feeds from the entire campus on the displays, providing real-time situational awareness. The EOC, managed by SMU's video staff, will be crucial in coordinating responses to emergencies drawing on resources from federal, state, and local authorities.
The EOC has been set up in line with guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security, National Incident Management System, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management, involving SMU emergency responders and local authorities.
While specific details about the key features and benefits of tvONE's CALICO PRO in emergency operations center applications at SMU were not provided, the technology offers superior video processing, flexibility, and real-time video processing, potentially enhancing situational awareness, collaboration, and reliability under demanding conditions.
The upgraded Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Southern Methodist University (SMU) now features tvONE's CALICO PRO video processor, integrating seamlessly with various gadgets such as HD LED displays and camera systems. This technology, with its data-and-cloud-computing capabilities, is anticipated to boost the EOC's efficiency in managing real-time data and providing enhanced situational awareness across the campus.
