Sony Marks 30 Years of PlayStation with Exclusive Photography Book

Sony is commemorating three decades of PlayStation with a captivating photography book, 'PlayStation: The First 30 Years'. Available in standard and exclusive Deluxe editions, it provides a rare peek into the console's history and development.

The Deluxe edition, limited to 1,994 copies, honours the year of the first PlayStation's launch. It comes with select prints and a presentation box. Both editions showcase unprecedented access to PlayStation's prototypes, sketches, and models, including never-before-seen mockups.

The book's design subtly nods to PlayStation's history. Ribbon bookmarks in the console's logo colours and an embossed circular design mimicking the first console's disc tray and open button add to its uniqueness. The book is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of next year.

Photographed by Benedict Redgrove, known for his fascination with technology and minimalist aesthetic, the book features PlayStation's past and present tech, along with portraits and insights from engineers and designers. Michael C Place, who worked on the design of WipEout, one of the first PlayStation games, served as the book's art director.

Pre-orders are open on the publisher's website, with the standard edition priced at $125 / £95 and the Deluxe edition at $325 / £245. This book is a must-have for PlayStation fans, offering a fascinating journey through three decades of gaming history.
