Trump Media, the company behind the social media platform Truth Social, has announced plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its service. The integration is part of the company's strategy to offer a more personalised and reliable platform for its users, aligning with Truth Social's goal of providing "non-woke news" and entertainment.

The AI functions, which are still under development, are expected to include content personalisation and AI search capabilities. Content personalisation aims to improve content discovery and provide more tailored information to users, while AI search capabilities will help efficiently surface content on the platform.

Truth Social's AI tools will be rolled out across its mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as its web version. While specific details about the development process and rollout timeline are not yet disclosed, the integration of AI is part of a broader digital push by Trump Media.

In a statement, CEO Devin Nunes emphasised that AI will help position Truth Social as a one-stop-shop for reliable information, non-woke news, and entertainment, aiming to expand the platform's reach. The company has also applied to register trademarks for "Truth Social AI" and "Truth Social AI Search," indicating a focus on developing AI-powered search tools.

Truth Social, launched in 2021 and going public in March 2022, has experienced fluctuations in its stock price and recently announced a $400 million stock buyback plan. The plan is intended to increase the platform's "financial flexibility," but it doesn't necessarily indicate a healthy corporate outlook.

The cost of developing a proprietary AI model for Truth Social could potentially be billions of dollars, which the platform may not be able to afford. Developers might attempt to integrate open-source AI models into Truth Social, similar to the platform's use of the open-source project Mastodon.

Trump has shown support for the AI industry during his term, promoting AI development in the U.S. and encouraging AI companies to invest domestically. However, Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill aimed to freeze AI regulation nationwide, but the amendment was ultimately voted down.

The future of Truth Social includes jumping on the AI bandwagon, despite its unstable corporate status. The integration of AI technology into Truth Social is part of the company's efforts to expand and enhance the platform, similar to the aims of the Trump Media and Technology Group Corp.'s initiative to develop the Truth Social ecosphere.

Over the past six months, the Trump family has launched several cryptocurrency ventures. The Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. has not yet decided whether to collaborate with an established AI company for the development of "Truth Social AI."

As Truth Social continues to develop and integrate AI technology, it will be interesting to see how the platform evolves and competes with other social media platforms in the industry.

  1. The tech industry's influence is evident in Truth Social's plan to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its service, aiming to offer a more personalized and reliable platform for users, much like Gizmodo might cover in its tech-focused articles.
  2. In the future, Truth Social's AI tools, including content personalization and AI search capabilities, are anticipated to help the platform expand its reach and compete with other social media platforms, aligning with Trump Media's goal of positioning Truth Social as a one-stop-shop for reliable information, non-woke news, and entertainment.
  3. While Truth Social faces financial challenges, such as the cost of developing a proprietary AI model, which could potentially be billions of dollars, the company's integration of AI technology highlights the broader digital push in the technology sector, reflecting Trump's support for AI development during his term.
