Smart Unveils Affordable Electric Cars in UK Starting at £16,850
Smart has unveiled its new range of electric-only cars in the UK, with prices starting from £16,850 after the Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG). The Fortwo EQ and Forfour EQ are set to launch in September 2017, with UK pricing expected to start above £20,000.
The new electric Smart cars feature an 80bhp electric motor, delivering 118lb/ft of torque. The Fortwo EQ can accelerate from 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds, while the ForFour EQ takes 12.7 seconds. All models have a top speed of 81mph.
Charging takes 2.5 hours with a wallbox and 6 hours with a regular plug. A 22kw fast charger option is promised for 2017. The cars have an official range of up to 100 miles, with real-world range expected to be around 70 miles.
The cars come with extra dashboard instruments and a Smart Control App for remote climate control. A Kermit green design package and BRABUS options are available.
The new electric Smart cars are priced competitively, with significant price cuts in Germany. The Fortwo EQ and Forfour EQ offer an affordable, eco-friendly option for city driving. With a range of up to 70 miles and fast charging options, these cars cater to urban drivers' needs.
