Smart batteries take center stage with U Power's proposal for setting up 55 charging stations in Hong Kong, an initiative aimed at crafting a zero-emission electric vehicle charging network.

**U Power Unveils Plans for Global Battery-Swapping Ecosystem**

U Power, a leading innovator in energy-efficient charging solutions, has announced ambitious plans to revolutionise urban transportation across the globe. The company's CEO, Johnny Lee, emphasised the importance of a replicable zero-carbon charging infrastructure for densely populated urban areas, particularly in Hong Kong.

The first step in this mission was taken last week with the inauguration of the first operational demonstration smart battery-swapping station for EVs in the Kwai Chung area of Hong Kong. This marks the beginning of U Power's plan to install 55 such stations in the city, with the ultimate goal of transforming Hong Kong's fleet of 18,000 taxis into greener electric vehicles (EVs).

In addition to its home market, U Power is expanding its smart battery-swapping stations beyond Hong Kong through strategic partnerships and ecosystem building in multiple international markets. The company has established partnerships in Thailand, Portugal, Peru, and Mexico to jointly promote its UOTTA battery-swapping services and build an ecosystem for various types of electric vehicles, including commercial trucks, buses, and passenger vehicles.

One such partnership is with Beijing Foton, China's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. This collaboration covers markets in Southeast Asia, South America, Hong Kong, and Macau, with potential for expansion to other projects in the future. U Power will provide technology support to incorporate battery swapping into Beijing Foton vehicles and develop and test battery-swapping stations connected to a battery-bank ecosystem.

In Hong Kong, U Power's battery-swap ecosystem supports a wide range of EV types, including four-wheeled commercial cars, electric buses, and vehicles at Hong Kong's ferry terminal. The company is planning to sell and service 600 battery-swapping vehicles and operate six battery-swapping stations in the Macau market.

To further incentivise EV adoption, U Power is introducing the world's first "Battery Token," an innovative solution using Web 3.0 blockchain and token-based economics. This system will offer drivers the ability to earn tokens with each battery swap, which can be traded for electricity tariff credits.

U Power's efforts reflect a broader goal to establish a global battery-swapping and battery-bank ecosystem for a diverse range of electric vehicles. The company is looking to work with partners in Asia, Europe, and South America to create a sustainable and efficient urban transportation ecosystem, accelerating EV adoption and reducing range anxiety globally.

The CEO, Johnny Lee, expressed his excitement about debuting the first smart battery-swapping station in Hong Kong and emphasised U Power's continued investments in next-generation AI technologies. U Power will cooperate with the Hong Kong Taxi Drivers & Operators Association to promote the electrification of taxis in Hong Kong and the adoption of the battery swapping model.

These initiatives align with Hong Kong's zero-emission vision by offering three innovative solutions: Intelligent Battery Swapping, Green and Sustainable EV Operations, and Carbon Reduction Activities. With U Power's intelligent battery swapping system offering automatic, fast, and cost-efficient battery swapping services, the future of urban transportation in Hong Kong and beyond is looking greener and more efficient than ever.

  1. As U Power expands its smart battery-swapping stations beyond Hong Kong, the company aims to build an ecosystem not only for passenger vehicles but also for commercial trucks and buses, blending the worlds of lifestyle, technology, and sports by offering greener, more efficient transportation alternatives.
  2. To foster a seamless transition to electric vehicles worldwide, U Power envisions its battery-swapping and battery-bank ecosystem supporting a diverse range of electric vehicles, including those used in the sports industry, showcasing how technology can revolutionize not only urban transportation but alsoour lifestyles.
