Serious Police Officer Injuries in Berlin Car Accident
A car accident on the L630 road in Berlin-Wilmersdorf on September 15th resulted in a police officer sustaining serious injuries. The driver of the car escaped unharmed, and the road had to be temporarily closed for the operation.
The incident began when a car veered off the road between Mascherode and Leiferde, landing on its roof in a filled drainage ditch. Motor oil from the car leaked and flowed into the ditch. The fire department was quick to respond, containing the water and deploying an oil-absorbing boom to prevent further environmental damage. They also called for a hazardous material swap loader vehicle and contacted the local water authority.
At the accident site, police officers were present, including the driver of the police vehicle and another officer sitting in the back seat. Tragically, this officer sustained serious trunk and arm injuries in the collision. The driver of the car, however, managed to free himself and escape unharmed.
The L630 road was temporarily closed to facilitate the rescue operation and clean-up. The fire department's swift action helped contain the environmental impact of the leaked motor oil. The injured police officer was taken to hospital, and the police are investigating the cause of the accident.
