SDCC 2024 Announces Shaun of the Dead's Winchester Tavern Pub Experience
In a zombie apocalypse, you might wanna have a plan, like this one: "Jack the car, head to Ma's, pop Phil, snatch Liz, hit the Winchester, savor a frosty pint, and just chill till this mess passes."
With the 20th anniversary of the release of Edgar Wright's classic flick, "Shaun of the Dead," we're rollin' back the years. Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, this bad boy revitalized the zombie genre with a healthy mix of romance, comedy, and a dash of regicide. There were three films in total, spawning the careers of everyone involved and immortalizing the phrase "Don't be a Dick". It's a big movie, a big anniversary, and to celebrate, Focus pulled the film back to where it all began - Comic-Con.
We got the chance to drop by the replica of the Winchester Tavern, Shaun and Ed's fave watering hole, at Comic-Con 2024. The joint was stacked with Easter Eggs - Shaun's flowers in the trash, chairs propped up by the windows, and a zombie in the jukebox. It's a damn cool spot, indeed, and doubles as a shop selling special "Shaun" shirts, pins, and limited-edition beer brewed by Beer Zombies Brewing Company. Sadly, you can't slam a pint there since it ain't licensed, but it still kicks ass.
