San Francisco's Iconic Nightclub 1015 Folsom Enhances Audio Experience with d&b audiotechnik A-Series Sound Setup
San Francisco's 1015 Folsom Nightclub Modernizes Sound System with d&b audiotechnik Installation
San Francisco, CA (May 28, 2025) - Legendary San Francisco dance club 1015 Folsom underwent a significant modernization, upgrading its decades-old sound system. Collaborative efforts between Michael Lacina of JK Sound and Don Lynch of Commercial Audio Video Solutions (CAVS) resulted in the installation of a contemporary d&b audiotechnik system, enhancing the clubgoers' audio experience.
The club opted for the A-Series ALi60 augmented arrays paired with V-Series Vi-GSUB subwoofers for the overhaul. JK Sound's president and founder, Michael Lacina, reminisced on his relationship with 1015 Folsom owner, Ira Sandler, which began in 1983. "Ira's dance parties kept growing, as did our sound reinforcement capabilities, so we kept working together," said Lacina. Since the last system installation, neighborhood development necessitated a system that minimized noise escaping from the club.
According to Commercial Audio Video Solutions' founder, Don Lynch, the main objectives were to provide efficient, rider-friendly loudspeakers, amplification, and to reduce noise spill beyond the venue's boundaries and between its spaces. The d&b A-Series system, featuring its single-channel cardioid V-Series subwoofers, provided the required SPLs, coverage, and tight pattern control for the project.
The main room installation, spearheaded by a team of four, was completed in record time, enabling the venue to reopen as scheduled. Numerous artists, including Polo & Pan, Curren$y, Peaches, and Azealia Banks, have since performed at the venue to positive acclaim. The system's clarity and power have been noted by performers and touring engineers alike.
Marcus Garcia, Production Manager at 1015 Folsom, shared a quote commending the system's performance. "The feedback from the performers about our new d&b system has been exceptional with frequent mentions of its clarity and power," said Garcia. The system's adaptability accommodates potential reconfigurations of the room orientation, and it is d&b Soundscape-ready, allowing for future auditory enhancements.
CAVS's Don Lynch highlighted the benefits of d&b audiotechnik products. "Performance aside, d&b audiotechnik is the best value on the market. The value in the after-sales support and warranty that you get with d&b is unlike anything else I've ever seen in the industry," Lynch affirmed.
The collaboration between JK Sound and CAVS, traditionally competitors, signifies a notable symbiosis within the industry. By leveraging their collective expertise and the superior quality of d&b audiotechnik products, they've empowered 1015 Folsom to maintain its legacy as one of San Francisco's premier destinations for live music and entertainment.
