The tech world is abuzz with excitement as Samsung prepares to unveil its latest innovation at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025. Among the anticipated launches are the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, but the most intriguing device in the lineup is the Samsung Galaxy G Fold.

This tri-fold smartphone, unlike its dual-fold counterparts, promises to revolutionise the foldable phone market with a third screen and two inward-facing hinges. This design allows for an enhanced multi-tasking experience, perfect for activities such as messaging, browsing, and video viewing all at once.

The Galaxy G Fold boasts a main internal screen of approximately 9.9 to 10 inches, and an outer cover screen of around 6.5 inches. The design shares similarities with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including shared hinge mechanisms, speaker integration, and a full-flat body aimed at minimising bumps and creases.

Both the internal and external displays are expected to reach around 2,600 nits peak brightness, and the device supports 25W wired charging. A notable feature is the rumoured use of a silicon-carbon battery, which offers higher energy density, enabling a thinner and more compact build with a total battery capacity likely below 5,000 mAh.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy G Fold is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, with options of 12GB or 16GB RAM and at least 256GB storage. However, the device is not expected to support S Pen at launch, focusing more on durability and core foldable features.

Production of the Galaxy G Fold will be limited, with around 300,000 units initially available, primarily in Korea and China. The premium price is expected to be above $2,500. It's worth noting that pre-orders might have a longer waiting period, or the device might not be up for pre-orders immediately after the announcement.

The Galaxy G Fold is distinct from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 series, set to launch in mid-2024. The Galaxy G Fold introduces an additional hinge and a third screen, offering a new foldable category beyond dual-fold phones.

In the coming months, we can expect more details to emerge about the Galaxy G Fold, including its official launch date, battery innovations, and user experience. If hinge smoothness and software multitasking optimisations are successful, the Galaxy G Fold could redefine foldable phone usability, setting a new standard in the industry.
