Samsung's Latest One UI 4 Software Update Now Accessible for Galaxy S21 Users

Following Google's release of Android 12 last month, Samsung is now launching the official version of its One UI 4 software for the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra.

Previously, Samsung's version of Android had supported several features present in Android 12, such as scrolling screenshots. With One UI 4, Samsung is incorporating additional features from Android 12. This includes updated widgets, enhanced privacy and security, and better customization options.

When it comes to personalizing your device, One UI 4 introduces new Color Palettes. These palettes make it simpler to modify the appearance of app icons, notifications, and more. Notifications and quick settings icons in One UI 4 have been made slightly more compact and feature a more intuitive grouping. Additionally, a broader selection of emojis, stickers, and GIFs on the Samsung keyboard should aid in expressing yourself more effectively in texts and chats.

The lock screen in One UI 4 has also undergone some improvements. These include the ability to access Samsung's voice recorder app without unlocking your phone fully, as well as enhancements to Samsung's always-on display.

In terms of security, similar to stock Android 12, One UI 4 will introduce new alerts that appear when an app is accessing your phone's microphones or cameras. The new Privacy Dashboard consolidates all your important security settings and controls into a single place. Additionally, Samsung is supporting Android 12's Private Compute Core feature, which serves as a sandbox to isolate your data from certain apps or functions and tracks suspicious app activity.

Regrettably, unless you have an unlocked Galaxy S21, you might need to wait a few more months for your carrier to test and certify One UI 4 before receiving the update. However, if you do have an unlocked S21, you should be able to download One UI 4 today from the Software Update tab in your phone's settings menu.

Samsung has announced that One UI 4 will be available "soon" on older Galaxy S phones, Galaxy Note phones, mid-range Galaxy A-series phones, and tablets and foldables, including the Samsung Z Flip and Z Fold phones.

In the realm of technological advancements, the tech industry is eagerly anticipating the future features that One UI 4, Samsung's latest software update, will bring to its devices. This update, influenced by Android 12, promises enhanced privacy and security, such as alerts for app access to microphones or cameras, a streamlined Privacy Dashboard, and the implementation of Android 12's Private Compute Core feature.
