Samsung's Foldable Phone and Artificial Intelligence Spectacles Set for September 29 Release, according to Reports
Samsung is set to launch its latest innovation, the Galaxy Z TriFold, on September 29 in South Korea. This triple-fold screen phone, as reported, will offer a 10-inch OLED display and a triple-camera system with a 200-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.
The Galaxy Z TriFold, despite its name, folds on two hinges and offers three displays when unfolded, more accurately referred to as a "triple-screen phone." The device is expected to be priced around $3,000.
Tech influencer Austin Evans, with 5.68 million YouTube subscribers, has expressed confidence about the Galaxy Z TriFold's success. He sees it as a way for Samsung to regain dominance in the foldable market, which is currently dominated by the Samsung S25, with the Galaxy Z TriFold likely to be purchased by a small number of enthusiasts to show off to their friends.
However, Evans has expressed doubts about the practicality and durability of trifold devices. Animation by TechHighest suggests the main display of the Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to fold in from the sides.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also reportedly developing AI smart glasses, potentially challenging Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses. However, Tech influencer Austin Evans has expressed skepticism about Samsung's ability to compete with Meta in the smart glasses market, as Samsung's AI smart glasses are said to be audio-only devices.
In contrast, Meta is rumored to be releasing a significant update to its Ray-Ban smart glasses at Meta Connect this month.
Interestingly, the ultra-thin iPhone Air, which is set to go on sale by Friday, offers potential design considerations for a foldable Apple phone, which is rumored to be in the works for the iPhone 18 line, expected in 2026.
At the same event, Samsung will also introduce Project Moohan, a mixed-reality headset, and its AI smart glasses.
Huawei rolled out its Mate XT, a triple-screen phone, last year in China. Meanwhile, Apple remains silent about its plans for a foldable phone, with no official announcements made yet.
As the competition in the foldable device market heats up, consumers can expect exciting new innovations and improvements in the coming years.
