S&P Global Unveils First Tier 1 Cleantech Companies List

S&P Global Commodity Insights has unveiled its first-ever Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list, recognizing 63 top renewable energy suppliers across solar modules, inverters, wind turbines, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The list showcases greater geographic diversity, with companies like CATL, Tesla, and LG Energy Solution making the cut.

The 2025 roster reflects the global distribution of industrial power, with Chinese firms dominating all categories. Fourteen module suppliers, including Trina Solar and JinkoSolar, made the cut, alongside international companies like First Solar and Hanwha Q Cells. Nine wind turbine companies, such as Goldwind and Vestas, were recognized. The inverters category includes companies like Huawei, Sungrow, and Enphase Energy, with a mix of Chinese, US, and German manufacturers.

The classification aims to provide a transparent benchmark for reliability and long-term performance in the clean energy supply chain. The Tier 1 designation identifies firms exceeding a defined threshold across at least four of six dimensions: market presence, market share, shipment scale, global diversification, financial performance, and sustainability assessment. Notable companies named in the Tier 1 classification are Canadian Solar, Enphase Energy Inc., Ginlong Technologies Co. Ltd., GoodWe Technologies Co. Ltd., Growatt New Energy Technology Co. Ltd., and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.

The 2025 S&P Global Commodity Insights Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list covers 63 top renewable energy suppliers, reflecting the global distribution of industrial power. The list does not constitute investment advice and companies are listed alphabetically within each category. This recognition aims to promote transparency and reliability in the clean energy supply chain.
