Russia unveils prototype for solar-driven aircraft carrier, potentially setting a new standard in clean energy for maritime warfare.

In a groundbreaking development, researchers at South Ural State University in Russia have created a prototype for the world's first solar-powered unmanned aircraft carrier, dubbed the 'Kangaroo.' This innovative creation, set to revolutionize Arctic exploration and forest monitoring, is fully capable of transporting small drones for up to 80 kilometers using solar energy.

The Kangaroo, with a weight of approximately 3 kilograms, features a wingspan of 2 meters and carries small drones or payloads weighing up to 2 kilograms. This solar-powered marvel has been designed to deliver drones to specific locations, where operators can then manage them to execute specific tasks. The carrier, during the drones' missions, can either recharge them for further operations or hastily return them to the launch site as needed.

Current advancements include the development of a piloted version of the Kangaroo, which will boast solar panels and offer additional human control for use in Arctic conditions and forested regions. This endeavor underscores the project's objective to support remote operations in environments where traditional aviation solutions may be impractical.

The Kangaroo project epitomizes the creative employment of renewable energy and unmanned aviation for remote and challenging terrains. It will likely pave the way for further advancements in sustainable, autonomous aircraft technologies.
