**BMW R 1300 R Titan Concept: A Radical Racing Motorcycle**

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the R 1300 R Titan Concept, a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that showcases the German manufacturer's prowess in radical design and performance enhancements. This concept bike, based on the R 1300 R, is a testament to BMW's commitment to pushing the boundaries of motorcycle technology.

## A Purpose-Built Quarter-Mile Racing Bike

The Titan Concept was designed and built by a team led by Philip Ludwig, a veteran of the Sultans of Sprint racing series. The bike was created with a focus on racing rather than just display, aiming to showcase BMW's ability to create a futuristic and high-performance motorcycle suitable for the track.

## Power and Performance

At its heart, the Titan Concept features a 1,300cc liquid-cooled boxer twin engine, the same as the standard R 1300 R. However, the Titan Concept boasts a nitrous oxide injection system connected directly to the engine control unit (ECU) with switchable mappings. This system adds an impressive 30-40 horsepower to the bike's power output.

The Titan Concept's extended swingarm helps manage power distribution, preventing wheelies, and ensuring optimal traction on the track. The bike's exhaust system is a custom titanium Akrapovic system, a work of mechanical art that adds to its racing aesthetic.

## Weight Reduction and Aerodynamics

To reduce weight, the Titan Concept features a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque body, shedding approximately 88 pounds compared to the stock R 1300 R. The bike's bodywork has been carefully designed with scoops for airflow, showcasing the engine and enhancing its racing appearance.

The front wheel, brake ducts, and lower fork shrouds of the Titan Concept are also from the M 1000 RR, adding to its performance credentials. The TFT display of the Titan Concept has been relocated from the traditional dashboard location to the tank area, improving aerodynamics and reducing weight.

## Racing Ergonomics

The Titan Concept's extreme racing position includes clip-on handlebars, custom footpeg extensions, and a tiny Alcantara seat pad. The fuel tank has been modified and repositioned, further enhancing the bike's aerodynamics and racing stance.

The headlight of the Titan Concept features yellow LEDs borrowed from the M4 CSL, adding a touch of BMW's road car technology to the bike's design. The Titan Concept is a functional racing prototype and serves as a demonstration of BMW Motorrad's capabilities in creating high-performance, race-ready motorcycles.
