Retail services company Allegiance welcomes new appointees to its board of directors
Allegiance Retail Services Announces New Board Members and Expanded Leadership
In a significant move, Allegiance Retail Services, a leading cooperative in the retail industry, has appointed several new members to its board of directors. The changes were announced at the Annual Membership Meeting held on June 25, 2025.
John Estevez, Avi Kaner, Noah Katz, Michael Mignosi, Joseph Parisi, and Adam Shapiro have joined the board, filling key positions. Notably, Adam Shapiro replaces John "Jack" Shakoor, who declined to stand for re-election.
Jason Ferreira, the Chairman and CEO of Allegiance Retail Services, was also appointed as the Vice Chairman. The precise roles of the newly appointed board members for the 2025-26 fiscal year have yet to be specified, although Ferreira's role as a Co-Op member and his involvement in Allegiance-related activities in 2025 are well documented.
The changes come as Allegiance Retail Services expands its technology team to better serve members with cutting-edge in-store and digital retail solutions. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving retail landscape.
In addition to the board changes, Allegiance Retail Services has unveiled a new multi-product private label brand, Pick & Prosper. The brand, which consists of products such as paper towels, cake mix, ice cream sandwiches, popcorn, spaghetti sauce, ground coffee, and lemonade, aims to offer premium quality without a high price tag, aligning with emerging grocery shopping trends.
The meeting was one of the organization's largest gatherings in recent years, according to Allegiance, with a significant turnout of members. Other notable appointments include Esmail Mobarak as the Treasurer of Allegiance Retail Services and Louis Scaduto Jr. as the Chairman. Samer Rahman and Donna Zambo were also appointed as Executive Vice Presidents, taking on expanded leadership roles.
Furthermore, Allegiance Retail Services has launched a new checkout app, Scan.Pay.Go, which is now available at a Foodtown location in Queens, N.Y. The app is part of Allegiance's ongoing efforts to enhance the shopping experience for its members.
Meanwhile, Freshtown, a member of Allegiance, has opened a new location in Upstate New York, replacing a Big Lots store with a state-of-the-art facility. The Foodtown store in Staten Island has also completed a conversion, transitioning from a large-scale deli to a one-stop-shop marketplace.
Joseph Fantozzi, President and COO of Allegiance, praised the current leadership as a "dream team" for the present and next decade of grocery. With these changes and new initiatives, Allegiance Retail Services continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and member satisfaction.
