Remaining ministers in Brandenburg limited to electric vehicle ownership

In the pursuit of meeting climate goals, governments worldwide, including Germany, have been increasingly adopting electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids in their fleets. However, a detailed comparison of the usage rates or proportions of electric, hybrid, and diesel vehicles used by government officials in Berlin and Brandenburg remains elusive.

In Berlin, the senators predominantly use electric motors in their official vehicles. Christian Gaebler (SPD) has switched from an Audi SQ8 sportback e-tron to a BMW i5 xDrive40, joining the ranks of electric vehicle users. Interestingly, only two ministers in the Brandenburg state government, Detlef Tabbert (BSW) and Manja Schüle (SPD), drive purely electric cars.

However, the picture is not entirely electric. Kai Wegger (CDU) and Iris Spranger (SPD) are the only Berlin senators using vehicles with combustion engines, while five Brandenburg ministers continue to use diesel cars. Four Brandenburg ministers opt for plug-in hybrid vehicles, including Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD), who has switched from an Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron to an Audi Q6 SUV e-tron quattro.

The share of electric cars has significantly decreased with the change of government in Potsdam, while in Berlin, it has remained constant compared to the previous year. It's worth noting that Environmental Aid's numbers may not be fully comparable with other statistics due to assumptions about plug-in hybrid usage and the number of vehicles per politician.

The minister-president Dietmar Woidke (SPD) drives a specially protected diesel vehicle, and both Wegger and Spranger are driven to their appointments in specially protected vehicles. Environmental Aid assumes that plug-in hybrids are only used in combustion mode for their ranking, but it's uncertain if this is the case for top politicians and their fleet management.

For precise and up-to-date figures, one would need to refer to official German government or Berlin/Brandenburg state transport or fleet management agencies directly, which typically monitor fleet electrification progress. However, such information was not found in the current search results.
