Rise in minimum wages for Amazon's logistics employees - Raise in Base Salaries for Entry-Level Positions in Amazon Logistics Operations
Amazon Raises Starting Wages for German Logistics Employees
Amazon has announced a significant wage increase for its logistics employees in Germany, aiming to address competitive labor market pressures and maintain a consistent wage policy across its many logistics sites.
Starting from September 2025, the entry-level gross hourly wage for logistics workers in Germany will be raised to approximately €15.56 to €15.65, up from the current minimum of about €15 per hour. By September 2026, Amazon plans to establish a uniform starting wage of €16 per hour across all its German logistics locations, impacting over 40,000 employees.
Currently, 22 of Amazon's 92 logistics centers in Germany pay starting wages at or above €16, and this increase will raise that number to 52 centers. This move reflects Amazon Germany’s practice of annual wage increases since 2014 and a response to the fact that wages vary across the company's logistics sites.
The wage increase will provide the possibility for unskilled workers to earn more, with employees in logistics expected to earn an average of more than €40,000 gross per year after two years of service.
However, the move has been criticized by the trade union Ver.di, who have long criticized Amazon for its stance on collective bargaining. Amazon, on the other hand, emphasizes its ongoing commitment to raising wages annually in its German logistics sector, stating that the increase is implemented unilaterally.
This strategy aims to retain employees amid labor competition and standardize wages across Amazon’s German logistics operations. The wage increase applies to approximately 90 locations where Amazon handles, sorts, or delivers packages in Germany.
