Posco Opens EUR 57M EV Motor Core Plant in Poland, Secures 35M Units by 2033
Posco International has inaugurated a new plant in Brzeg, Poland, specialising in electric vehicle (EV) drive motor cores. The EUR 57 million facility has already secured orders for 35 million units globally by 2033, including a significant contract to supply 1.68 million units for European-made Hyundai and Kia EVs.
The plant, which has an annual output capacity of 1.2 million motor cores, will commence trial production in October and begin full commercial production in December. Posco's drive motor cores utilise advanced Hyper NO steel and EMFree technology, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing noise. The company aims to have an annual production capacity of 7.5 million units globally by 2030, targeting a 10% share of the global EV drive motor core market.
The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Posco International's CEO, the Opole Governor, and the South Korean Ambassador to Poland. The International Energy Agency predicts that annual battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in Europe will reach 4 million units by 2025, indicating a promising market for Posco's products.
Posco International's new plant in Poland is poised to play a significant role in the global EV market. With robust orders already secured and advanced technology employed, the company is well-positioned to capitalise on Europe's growing demand for electric vehicles.
