Polestar's Digital Rearview Mirror Enhances Safety and Comfort
Polestar has made a significant stride in automotive innovation with the introduction of its digital rearview mirror, currently available in Europe, and positioned below the Polestar 5. This technology, first seen in September 2025, aims to enhance both safety and comfort in vehicles.
The digital rearview mirror replaces the traditional one that has been a staple in car design for over a century. It uses a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view to capture real-time information, which is then displayed on an 8.9-inch HD screen in the cabin. This innovation improves driver visibility, particularly in poor lighting or rainy conditions, as it can provide a clearer image than a conventional mirror.
This departure from traditional automotive design offers more than just improved visibility. It creates a more spacious and luxurious backseat experience, as the lack of a rear window allows for additional legroom and a more open feel in the cabin.
Polestar's digital rearview mirror is a significant advancement in automotive design, offering improved safety and comfort. By replacing the traditional rearview mirror with a digital display, it provides better visibility in challenging conditions and creates a more spacious backseat experience. This innovation is currently available in Europe and is positioned below the Polestar 5.
