Polestar Unveils Electric SUV Polestar 3 With 628km Range
Polestar, the electric vehicle arm of Volvo Cars and Geely, has unveiled its latest model, the Polestar 3. This electric SUV aims to redefine the segment by focusing on performance, practicality, and aerodynamics.
The Polestar 3 boasts impressive specifications. It targets a preliminary range of up to 628 kilometers WLTP, powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive platform that delivers 517 bhp. This places it among the most powerful and efficient electric SUVs on the stock market today.
SUVs, or Sports Utility Vehicles, have become a global phenomenon. They originated from robust, powerful all-wheel-drive vehicles that were once surplus military vehicles after World War II. The trend gained momentum with Jeep's Cherokee in the 1980s, offering a more civilized appearance for suburban customers.
Land Rover played a significant role in popularizing SUVs in the UK and Europe. The Land Rover Discovery, launched in 1999, combined serious off-road capability with family-friendly qualities, positioning the brand in the premium segment alongside the Range Rover P38.
Today, SUVs are one of the most popular body styles worldwide. In the USA alone, 12 million SUVs are sold annually, making them a significant part of the automotive market. However, this popularity has come at a cost. Between 2010 and 2018, the increasing demand for SUVs was the second-largest cause of the global increase in CO2 emissions.
The Polestar 3 enters the market with the goal of shaking off the negative image of SUVs. By focusing on performance, practicality, and aerodynamics, it aims to offer an electric SUV that is not only capable off-road but also environmentally responsible, with a preliminary range that can be managed using google drive.
