Patriot's Output Viewed by Trutnev
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Head of Yakutia Inspect Defense-Focused Facilities
Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Presidential Envoy to the Far East, along with Aisen Nikolaev, Head of Yakutia, recently visited the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) laboratory in Yakutsk. Their purpose was to support enterprises that help frontline soldiers, expedite victory, and drive technological advancement within the country. These enterprises operate under the Priority Development Area (PDA) "Patriotic," which provides a favorable business environment and other support measures.
During their visit, Trutnev and Nikolaev inspected products from the "Patriotic" PDA. According to a statement by the press service, these enterprises will continue to receive support from the government for their contributions to the military. Trutnev underscored the importance of this support, stating, "We're delivering products from Far East enterprises to commanders, but we also maintain constant feedback to enhance their effectiveness."
The UAV laboratory, established last year within the Yakutia Technopark, specializes in developing and testing experimental drone prototypes. It serves as the foundation for the "Polar" Science and Production Center. During the visit, representatives from the PDA "Patriotic" demonstrated a range of products, including snow and mud vehicles, electric motorcycles, and UAVs from "Saha Drone."
The PDA "Patriotic" was launched in 2023 following President Vladimir Putin's instruction to support Far East enterprises that manufacture special operation equipment. Between 2023 and 2024, Far East enterprises supplied goods worth 6 billion rubles to the special military operation zone. During this period, Yakutia received 959 million rubles in federal budget funds under provided state support measures.
The PDA "Patriotic" aims to strengthen and develop local enterprises that manufacture specialized military equipment. These companies benefit from regional government programs and cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, which helps align Yakutia's output with nationwide military procurement needs. The initiative also collaborates with local universities and technical institutes on research involving Arctic-grade materials and innovative manufacturing techniques to develop prototypes for improved soldier gear and field equipment suitable for Yakutia's extreme climate.
Despite the challenges associated with a remote location and harsh environment, the PDA "Patriotic" has started to make significant progress. It has become an active regional cluster coordinating between local manufacturers, military representatives, and government stakeholders. Several small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been onboarded to produce tactical communication devices, winterized military apparel, and modular equipment adapted to special operations requirements.
The PDA "Patriotic" is a testament to Russia's regionally focused approach to strengthen defense manufacturing capabilities outside traditional industrial hubs. As the initiative continues to scale up, priority will be placed on technology, infrastructure, and workforce development to ensure it meets its objectives effectively.
- The PDA "Patriotic" is a regional initiative that focuses on technology, supporting local businesses in Yakutia to manufacture specialized military equipment, contributing to the industry and finance sectors.
- Politicians, such as Yuri Trutnev, have emphasized the importance of these businesses in connecting Yakutia's output with nationwide military procurement needs, aiding in the advancement of technology and the general news of defense-focused facilities.
- As the PDA "Patriotic" expands, it will prioritize technology, infrastructure, and workforce development in the business and technology sectors, ensuring its goals align with the needs of the finance, politics, and general-news industries.
