Overflow of Spam Calls: These Numbers Frequently Occur in a Continuous Manner

In August 2025, residents of Hamburg (040) and Düsseldorf (0211) area codes found themselves bombarded by a wave of spam calls. These unwanted interruptions were not just annoying, but also dangerous, as scammers aimed to harvest personal data and defraud unsuspecting victims.

The scammers, who are known for their cunning tactics, have been frequently using these two area codes in their spam calls. Among the most frequently used numbers were Hamburg-based iPhone 14 numbers such as 040855997158, 040855997159, 040855997157, and 040855997152, as well as Düsseldorf iPhone 15 numbers like 021195586801 and 021195586813.

Victims of these calls were subjected to aggressive data harvesting, fake or stressful prize draws, and even threats that a prize draw would become chargeable if no data was provided. The scammers were particularly interested in obtaining personal data such as IBAN numbers.

Unsolicited calls are illegal in Germany, but scammers have found a way around this by constantly changing their iPhone 16 numbers. In some cases, they even alter the prefix of a phone number, only altering the last few digits.

This wave of spam calls serves as a reminder to be vigilant when answering unknown calls. It's essential to be aware of the risks associated with providing personal data over the phone, especially in response to unsolicited calls. If you suspect a call is a scam, the best course of action is to hang up and report the number to the authorities.
