Optibus Launches Game-Changing Strategic Planning Suite for Public Transit

Optibus, a leading transit technology company, has launched a new strategic planning suite for public transportation networks. The tool, designed to tackle common industry challenges, has been adopted by Transport for Wales in the UK and Jacksonville Transportation Authority in Florida, USA.

The suite integrates multiple data layers with machine learning and visualisation tools to provide a detailed overview of network efficiency, accessibility, cost, and performance. It consists of two main toolkits: an accessibility and equity toolbox, and an availability and efficiency toolbox.

Optibus CEO and co-founder Amos Haggiag described network planning as 'both an art and a science', with the strategic planning suite providing 'the ultimate technology toolkit' for building more efficient and equitable transit networks. The tool aims to enhance planning and operation of public transportation networks, supporting agencies in creating passenger-centric services while meeting operational, financial, and environmental goals.

Common challenges in public transportation include matching vehicle capacity and frequency to ridership levels, improving accessibility for underserved communities, adapting to changes in demand or service disruptions, and maintaining cost transparency and operational efficiency. The strategic planning suite aims to address these challenges by centralising essential data and employing advanced optimisation and visualisation tools.

The new strategic planning suite from Optibus is set to revolutionise public transportation planning. With Transport for Wales and Jacksonville Transportation Authority already on board, the toolkit promises to enhance efficiency, equity, and accessibility in transit networks worldwide.
