On-Route Emission Compliance Facilitated by Zonar's Certified Emissions Check

Zonar, a leading company in commercial vehicle fleet health and safety, has announced the general availability of its latest solution, Zonar Emissions Check™. This innovative technology has been certified by the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Clean Truck Check (CTC) program as a provider of continuously connected remote on-board diagnostic (CC-ROBD) testing devices.

The Clean Truck Check program is a mandatory annual compliance requirement from CARB for all non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds operating in California. Instead of a traditional physical smog test, vehicles equipped with continuous connected remote OBD testing devices like Zonar Emissions Check can fulfill the CTC requirement through remote emissions monitoring and reporting, enabling real-time compliance verification without requiring frequent in-person inspections.

To participate in the program, vehicle owners must register their vehicle in the Clean Truck Check system and pay an annual compliance fee (currently $30 per vehicle). The OBD device used (such as Zonar Emissions Check) must be CARB-verified and integrated with the CTC program to continuously monitor emissions and report data directly to CARB, ensuring that emissions standards are met throughout the year.

Zonar Emissions Check simplifies fleet operations by eliminating the need for dispatch to reroute drivers to testing facilities or require maintenance teams to run additional tests. The solution, compatible with existing customers who have the Zonar V4™ telematics control unit (TCU) installed, allows for seamless activation of the compliance process with integrated Emissions Check services.

Emissions Check delivers accurate pass/fail results without taking vehicles offline for testing, enhancing fleet efficiency and productivity. When paired with Zonar FaultIQ, Emissions Check can provide notifications of emission faults to fix before potential testing failures. This combination offers a full end-to-end fleet health and safety solution.

FaultIQ, when used with Emissions Check, maximizes vehicle uptime by continuously monitoring fleet health and helping assets run better for longer. Emissions Check is designed to support fleets in meeting regulatory compliance and long-term emissions and sustainability goals.

Greg Colvin, senior director of solutions engineering at Zonar, expressed excitement about the market release of Emissions Check. "We are thrilled to offer our customers a solution that not only meets the rigorous standards of the CARB's Clean Truck Check program but also simplifies fleet operations and saves significant time and money," he said.

With this certification, Zonar can utilize its V4 TCU to conduct emissions scans on vehicles that meet CARB's CTC requirements. This simplification further enhances the company's commitment to providing comprehensive, efficient, and reliable solutions for commercial vehicle fleet health and safety.
