Nurse Scammed Out of 800,000 Rubles in 12-Day Video Call Scheme

Over the past 24 hours, police in Neryungri have reported a case of remote fraud involving a 63-year-old nurse. The scammers, who remain unidentified, contacted the victim via video calls and classified ad services, maintaining contact for 12 days.

The scammers lured the nurse with promises of cheap tickets and easy investments. Posing as law enforcement officers, they threatened to hack her 'Gosuslugi' account and used artificial intelligence in their schemes. After 12 days of communication, the victim was persuaded to transfer a substantial sum of 800,000 rubles from her personal savings to accounts specified by the scammers.

The police have registered this incident and are currently investigating the case. The masterminds behind the scam campaign remain at large, and the public is urged to be cautious of such schemes, especially those involving video calls and classified ad services.
