Nissan Ariya's price dropped by £6k, qualifying it for Electric Vehicle Grant
Nissan Reduces Prices of Ariya and Introduces New Shiro Trim, Making Electric Vehicles More Accessible
Nissan has announced significant price reductions for its electric SUV, the Ariya, making it eligible for the UK's Electric Car Grant (ECG). The changes will make the Ariya more affordable for many consumers, with the entry-level 63kWh Engage trim now priced at £33,500 after the grant[1][2][3].
The new price adjustments mean that the 63kWh Engage trim is now priced at £33,500 post-grant, the 63kWh Advance trim starts from £37,500, and the 87kWh long-range Ariya starts from £35,500[2]. The Evolve trim, a higher trim, is priced from approximately £42,500[1].
In addition to these changes, Nissan has introduced a new entry-level Shiro trim with a 67kWh battery, priced from £33,500 and also eligible for the grant[2]. These price reductions have narrowed the gap between battery options and brought more Ariya versions under the £40,000 luxury tax threshold, reducing running costs[1].
Fiona Mackay, Nissan GB marketing director, stated that the Ariya now offers greater value without compromising on innovation, design, and performance[4].
Regarding other Nissan electric vehicles eligible for the Electric Car Grant, Nissan has been actively adjusting pricing to bring models below the ECG eligibility threshold. However, the current information suggests that the focus is primarily on the Ariya. More announcements regarding other models are expected in the coming weeks[2].
Nissan is also looking forward to the third-generation British-built Leaf later this year, with the UK-built Leaf crossover expected to receive the higher £3750 ECG[5].
