Nintendo raises prices of consoles by up to $50 in the US, Joy-Con 2s become $5 costlier, and Alarmo faces an additional $10 charge

In a recent announcement, Nintendo has increased the prices of its Nintendo Switch family of systems in the United States, effective from August 3, 2025. The revised prices are as follows: the Nintendo Switch OLED Model at $399.99 (previously $349.99), the standard Nintendo Switch at $339.99 (previously $299.99), and the Nintendo Switch Lite at $229.99 (previously $199.99) [1][3][4].

This move follows similar price adjustments in Canada and is attributed to "market conditions" [1][3][4]. Retailers such as Target have already implemented the new pricing ahead of the official August 3 date [4].

While the Nintendo Switch 2, Switch 2 games, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships remain unchanged for now, some accessories have seen a price increase. For instance, the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo now costs $109.99 (previously $99.99), and Joy-Con 2 controllers are now priced at $99.99 (previously $94.99) [4].

Additionally, certain Switch 1 accessories and some Switch 2 accessories, amiibo, and the Alarmo may experience price increases. However, Nintendo warns that price adjustments may be necessary for some of these products in the future [1][3][4].

Meanwhile, Microsoft has admitted to being too hasty with the adoption of $80 games and has reduced the price of The Outer Worlds 2 [6]. In contrast, Xbox has increased the price of most of its gaming products [2].
